It only took going to the future and back, but Pepsi Perfect is now a real thing.
For a limited time, Pepsi will sell the Back to the Future soda made popular—but not available—in the classic movie starring Marty McFly (no relation to this writer).
Residents of the modern era will soon have a chance to purchase one of 6,500 limited-edition bottles for the hefty price of $20.15 each (hoverboard not included). Bottles will be sold online on Oct. 21 in celebration of the 30th anniversary of Marty and Doc heading from the '80s to now.
Details about how to obtain the long-coveted item will be released on Pepsi's social media accounts, according to a statement Monday announcing Pepsi Perfect's arrival in the present. New York Comic-Con attendees will also have a chance at another set of bottles, either by dressing up as Marty McFly or by competing in a "Wild Gunman" contest.
Pepsi is advertising the bottles with the spot above, featuring robots, flying cars and, of course, big hair. The ad was created by Davie Brown Entertainment—the very same agency that created and integrated the fictional Pepsi Perfect product in the movie back in 1989—along with production company Stun Creative.
